Travel Requirements for Galápagos

Required Documents for Entry
– Valid passport or national ID (must be valid for at least 6 months after your departure date).
– Round-trip plane ticket between mainland Ecuador (Quito or Guayaquil) and the Galápagos Islands.

Transit Control Card (TCT)
This document is required to enter and exit the Galápagos.
– Cost: $20 per person (cash only).
– Where to get it: At Quito or Guayaquil airport at the Galápagos Government Council counter.
– This process is done in person before airline check-in.

Galápagos National Park Entrance Fee
The fee varies based on your nationality. It must be paid in cash upon arrival in the islands.

Biosecurity Control
– All luggage is subject to mandatory inspection before check-in.
– You must fill out an affidavit declaring that you are not transporting prohibited items.

Travel Tips for Galápagos

Travel Insurance
– We recommend having international health insurance.
– Travel cancellation insurance is also helpful (optional).
– Make sure your vaccines are up to date. Yellow fever is recommended for certain areas.

What to Bring to Galápagos
– Lightweight, comfortable, quick-dry clothing.
– Hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen.
– Swimsuit, hiking shoes, water sandals.
– Camera or GoPro, type A/B adapters, small backpack.

Currency and Tipping
– The official currency is the US dollar.
– Some islands may lack ATMs, so bring enough cash.
– Tipping is not mandatory but always appreciated.

Galápagos National Park Rules
– Keep 2 meters away from animals.
– Do not feed, touch, or disturb wildlife.
– Do not remove natural items like shells or rocks.
– Smoking, fires, or drones are not allowed without authorization.
– Always follow a certified naturalist guide.

Before Your Flight
– Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.
– Pass the biosecurity check and get your TCT.
– Bring enough cash for the Park entrance fee.

Maximum Stay in Galápagos
As a tourist, you may stay for up to 60 days per calendar year. Each entry requires a new TCT.
